This is the story of Masajja Self-help Initiative
1. Who We Are
The Masajja Self-help Initiative (MSI) is a young, registered community-based organization founded in May 2025 in Masajja, Wakiso District, Uganda. We were born from the struggles of our community youth unemployment, school dropouts, poor sanitation, and neglected vulnerable groups. We have no external funding yet, but we are determined to build hope and change through collective action.
2. Our Mission
Our mission is to empower the people of Masajja through education, skills training, health support, and community-driven development, so that every resident has a chance to live with dignity and opportunity.
3. The Problem We Address
Masajja is overcrowded, under-served, and facing rising unemployment, idleness, drug abuse, poor sanitation, and lack of guidance for young people. Women, mothers, the elderly, refugees, and persons with disabilities struggle daily without adequate support. Without intervention, these challenges will keep generations trapped in poverty and insecurity.
4. Our Work & Plans
Even without funding, we are mobilizing schools, youth, and local leaders to start:
-
Youth skilling & mentorship to reduce idleness and crime.
-
Women’s empowerment programs in health, crafts, and financial literacy.
-
Sanitation drives & waste management to make our environment healthier.
-
Support for children & vulnerable groups with counselling, education, and care.
These activities are being fueled only by volunteer efforts and personal contributions of our founding members.
5. Why We Need Your Support
We are at the beginning of this journey with no donor support yet. Every contribution no matter how small will help us launch community programs that can save lives, restore dignity, and give young people alternatives to crime and poverty. By supporting MSI, you are not just funding a project, you are investing in a model for grassroots transformation that can be replicated across Uganda.
